Integrative Psychotherapist in Guildford

Working it out together

I am an integrative psychotherapist which means that I draw on many different theories and ideas within my work including person-centred, humanistic, existential, psychodynamic, compassion-focused, acceptance-commitment and cognitive behavioural concepts.

I believe that you are the expert on you.

However, there can be times in our lives when we feel confused, lost and alone. A trusting, safe, regular non-judgemental space with a therapist can help ease these feelings and begin to understand them ultimately enabling you to have more clarity on you and your needs. I will encourage you to bring whatever is troubling you to our sessions and by taking it at your pace we can work out together what is the best way forward for you.

Speak in confidence

I understand that seeking counselling can feel frightening and overwhelming. I encourage all my clients to have an initial 20 minute conversation on Zoom or telephone to briefly discuss your reasons for seeking help, and to provide an opportunity for you to ask any questions that you may have. There is no charge for this initial conversation.

The first session

In our first session I will explain more about how I work and we'll look further at what has brought you to therapy. We'll explore what your hopes and goals are from our work together and start building our relationship. When starting this journey it is essential that you feel comfortable to work with me so at the end of the first session we will discuss whether you wish to book further appointments or seek help somewhere else. Either choice is the right one for you.

Ongoing sessions

I offer both short and long-term counselling contracts either online (via Zoom) or face-to-face at my office in Guildford. Ongoing sessions would be at the same time and on the same day each week.

What’s the difference between therapy and talking to a friend?

Sometimes we need a friend.

Sometimes we need a space that is entirely our own.

Talking to a Friend might look like:

  • Sharing openly—but sometimes holding things back
  • Receiving advice or opinions
  • Feeling connection and comfort
  • Taking turns supporting each other
  • Having quick check-ins or a place to vent
  • Depending on their time, energy, or availability

Therapy offers something different:

  • A space that is fully yours
  • Confidential, consistent support
  • No judgement—just understanding
  • Help to find your own answers (not advice)
  • Time to explore things more deeply
  • Tools and insights grounded in experience and research

Both can give you:

  • A sense of being heard
  • Emotional support and validation
  • New perspectives
  • A reminder that you’re not alone
